Welcome to Downton, Cousin Matthew!

My brother and his sweet wife had a baby last week -- a little boy they named Matthew Robert.  We've been pretty excited about his birth around here.  (Well, let's face it, mostly I'm excited.  I'm the aunt and you know that aunts get more excited than uncles and cousins).

If you know me, you know I've been absolutely obsessed with the Masterpiece Classics show Downton Abbey on PBS.  And if you know anything about the show, (and if you don't you are REALLY missing out) one of the main characters is Cousin Matthew, the heir-apparent of Downton.  He is not your usual Edwardian-era nobleman but a common lawyer (insert Edwardian-era "GASP!" here). But if you looked up the word "DASHING" in the dictionary, there would be a picture of Cousin Matthew.

I digress, but it's my blog and I can do that right?  If you haven't watched this fabulous show, what you are really missing out on is Dame Maggie Smith's brilliance.  Here's just a snippet (and if you look closely, you'll see Cousin Matthew in the first scene):

Sorry about the size, I tried to fix it but I guess I'm not that good.

I'm not entirely sure that my brother and his wife chose the name based on Downton Abbey, but to me he will have to be referred to as Cousin Matthew for his entire life. (It is also interesting to note that Robert is Lord Grantham's first name).  Too bad their isn't an estate in the family for him to inherit.

Oh yes, this is a stamping blog.  I almost forgot for a minute.  You probably came to see a card and I do have one to show -- the one I made our own Cousin Matthew.  My sister-in-law is a quilter so I knew it had to be a quilt card.

Colors: Peach Parfait, Baja Breeze, Whisper White.  Stamps: Teeny Tiny Phrases.  Big Shot: Square Lattice Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  Punches 1-1/4" square.  Accessories: 5/8" Jumbo Brads, Just Eat Cake and Twitterpated Designer Series Papers.
